Lobachevsky UNN in Top 50 worldwide for computer science and psychology
The European Commission has placed the Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod (UNN) in Top 50 worldwide for computer science and psychology, according to its 2014-2015 U-Multirank ranking, the UNN website announced.
U-Multirank, a new global multidimensional ranking of higher education institutions, was developed by an independent consortium led by German and Dutch centers for higher education and supported by the European Commission. Comparisons are made across seven fields of study, including electrical and mechanical engineering, business studies, physics, psychology, computer science, and medicine.
In a comment on the latest developments UNN Rector, Prof. Evgeny Chuprunov said the fact UNN ranked among the world’s best was “the result of the complex work done by the university to develop human capital and support key staff and young talent under the current national program designed to give a number of Russia’s leading universities a competitive edge globally.” He explained that with research and training facilities dramatically renovated and a unique model for functional integration with the research institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences in place, Lobachevsky UNN attracts international celebrities in science, both current and prospective, and develops dual degree programs with the world’s leading universities.
Lobachevsky UNN was ranked by U-Multirank for a second straight year, and its position has strengthened.
This year’s edition presents data on more than 1,200 higher education institutions from 83 countries, up from 850 in the first edition. A reported 7,500 curricula in seven fields of study were consudered. U-Multirank evaluated universities across their core missions, including teaching, research, knowledge transfer, regional engagement and international outlook, and grades them from “A” (very good) to “E” (weak).
