Unemployment rate in Nizhny Novgorod region lower compared to country level

The registered unemployment rate in Nizhny Novgorod region is two times lower than the national average.

This was stated by Deputy Head of Employment Services in Nizhny Novgorod Lev Bolnov.

According to him, the level of registered unemployment in the Nizhny Novgorod region has been reduced for a quarter, from 1.2% in January 2011 to 0.9% in December 2011. The region has become one of the leading regions of the Volga Federal District with the lowest index level of registered unemployment. The rate (0.9%) is almost 2 times lower than in Russia in average (1.6%).

Bolnov noted employment centers offer not only low-skill jobs but also highly qualified and well-paid positions with wages starting with 25 thousand rubles.
