Nizhny’s UNN and Royal Society of Chemistry discuss chemical science prospects
The Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod (UNN) is holding in its Building 2 on September 8 a scientific and business workshop titled “The prospects of chemical science development in a contemporary environment.”

Mr. Tkachenko is expected to talk about one of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s current projects that may have most far-reaching implications globally. RSC is building a Global Chemistry Network which will connect chemical resources and chemists across the globe in a single scientific information network dynamically updated in real time. The goal is to provide seamless tools for researchers, librarians, publishers, informational technology specialists and government agencies to facilitate scientific research by providing a free flow of information.
UNN too is preparing in-depth presentations to highlight its key areas of chemical research. Alexei Gushchin, the dean of the Department of Chemistry, and Evgeny Suleimanov, the head of UNN’s Research Institute of Chemistry, will share their vision of what their respective entities should be focused on in fundamental and applied chemical science.
The workshop is a sort of precursor for the Nizhny Novgorod audiences of Russia Chemistry Week, a major event the Royal Society of Chemistry is launching on October 21 in Moscow. In spite of current global tensions in politics, scientists in the two countries hope the Week will support UK-Russia innovation, understanding and collaboration in chemistry.
